Mary Whitehouse 13听May 2004
What was her lasting legacy?

It is now forty years since Mary Whitehouse began her Clean Up TV campaign.听 She believed that if violence was show on television, the result would be a more violent society.听 Her campaign lead to the birth of the National Viewers and Listeners Association

Over the years she attacked Jackanory (irresponsible) and Alf Garnett (an insult to the Queen).听She was particularly critical of the 成人快手 and the then Director General Sir Hugh Greene and she was banned from all 成人快手 premises from 1965 to 1976

But what has been her lasting legacy? Sheila talks to writer A L Kennedy and journalist Mary Kenny who met Mary Whitehouse several times.
