Mary Richardson 12 December 2003
Mary Richardson's Women's Social and Political Union medal
The Women's Social and Political Union medal is expected to fetch up to 拢15,000 at auction at Dix Noonan Webb next week. It belonged to Mary Richardson who's best known for taking an axe to the Rokeby Venus in 1914.

But who was Mary Richardson and why was she awarded the highest number of awards ever given by the suffragette movement?

Hilda Kean from Ruskin College, Oxford joins Sheila to talk about Mary's life and her achievements.
