6,722 people selected their 3 most respected and 3 least respected professions and the results were calculated following a points system. You can see a full explanation of how the results were calculated at the foot of the page.

People voted for their 3 most and 3 least respected professions.
The most respected was assigned 5 points, the second most respected 3 points and the third most respected 1 point.
At the other end of the scale, the least respected received -5 points, the second most respected -3 points and the third least respected -1. These points were then added together and the above table compiled.
