Where I Play:

Together with my group, Romani Rad, we rehearse at The Trinity Centre in East Ham, East London. It's like a club and we're developing a musical called The Wedding which we'll be performing at lots of festivals around the country including Celebrating Sanctuary to mark Refugee Week. It's our way of exploring and keeping alive Roma culture here in London.

Romani Rad, at rehearsalsI also play with a group called Szapora. We're made up of two Bosnian girls from the Former Yugoslavia along with six English people and myself. We play the tunes and the English members of the band write down the music to it. We work very well together and we've performed at big venues around London like Union Chapel. It's great.

When my son is a little older, maybe when he's 6 or 7, I'll start teaching him the accordion. It's very important that he keeps up the tradition but of course, I want him to play the music that he loves.
