I was born and grew up in Jamaica till age of 18. My parents were here before me so I came here in ‘81 myself. Never been the easiest country to adjust to. It take time and you get things adjusted. I suppose taxi’s just about sort of job where you can keep your self-respect without being a foot mop - some prospects for life, keep your health intact. Not the easiest of jobs but I love it - good, bad & indifferent - sure can have a laugh. Yeah, we love it.
I grew up with reggae music. I was always fond of Bob Marley from a kid, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, but Bob Marley’s my icon, my favourite. I’ve been writing reggae music for the past four years. Probably one of the favourite tracks that I’ve written is ‘Our Society’ - it’s pretty cool and I hope that’s the one you all like, like myself. It’s sung here by my mate, Junior Chaplin and was released on our own label, J.P.B.I. International.
