Authorities blame ‘foreign forces’ for Hong Kong protests

Hong Kong's police chief says his force will bring to justice those who participated in violent clashes that broke out after one of the biggest marches the territory has ever seen. Stephen Lo strongly condemned the violence, which he said had damaged Hong Kong's tradition of peaceful demonstrations.

Sudanese security forces have fired tear gas and live ammunition to disperse protesters setting up barricades in Khartoum. Four people have been killed on the first day of a general strike on Sunday, according to doctors aligned to the opposition.

Police in Kazakhstan have arrested hundreds of people protesting against a poll to elect the country's first new president in 30 years. The election was called after long-time leader, 78-year-old Nursultan Nazarbayev, stepped down in March.
