Susan studied for her postgraduate degree in decorative arts at Glasgow University, in association with Christie’s Auctioneers. Following a jewellery and silver traineeship with Christie’s, Susan moved to Phillips Auctioneers in Edinburgh as Head of the Jewellery and Silver Department. In 1998, she moved to London as an international jewellery specialist where she established and ran a second jewellery department for Phillips Auctioneers.
Susan is now an independent jewellery specialist based at her gallery in Harrogate, advising on the buying and selling of jewellery. She holds regular jewellery courses and selling exhibitions at the gallery.
As well as being an accredited lecturer for the Arts Society, Susan is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
Since joining the Roadshow, one of the most memorable items she has come across is a gold bracelet originally belonging to Queen Victoria – the lucky owner had found it in the street!
