Sarah Carter
Sarah Carter along with her husband vet Dr Vinay Ramlaul has built a very unusual family.
At Twala Trust Animal Sanctuary in Zimbabwe, it is all about friendship and companionship. “So if Tiger-lily the cat can provide warmth and friendship to an orphaned antelope, or Keiko the rescue dog can help little broken Harriet the serval on her journey to recovery, why not?”.
Sarah is very focused and nurtures every animal like it is her own child.
With over 70 animals, from lions and donkeys to owls and vervet monkeys, Sarah and Vinay have created a home for every animal they have rescued. Their aim is to give them the care they need and a happy, tranquil environment to live out the rest of their lives if they cannot be released back into the wild.
Sarah is very focused and nurtures every animal like it is her own child. She does, however, have a particular passion for cats. From the largest cats in Africa, to the smallest - her rescue centre and indeed her home has become a haven.
“I'm not a scientist - I just apply the principles of love and kindness and I believe that can be a pretty powerful medicine."
