The Apple (1998)
Francine Stock chooses the film The Apple (1998). It was directed by the Iranian film-maker Samira Makhmalbaf when she was just 17 years old. She is the daughter of director and writer Mohsen Mahmalbaf.
Based on an extraordinary聽true story and featuring the real people as the actors, The Apple is about two daughters who are locked up by their parents for eleven years, and then have to adjust to the outside world.
