Demand for private rental properties has surged in the last 5 years and prices are at an all-time high. We investigate how scammers are using this to cash in on victims, by posing as landlords to make tenants pay for properties that aren't really available.

Consumer champ Matt Allwright meets people who have lost thousands, and finds out how a 拢3 land register document could help you outsmart these scammers.

We contacted alleged 'fake' landlord Samy Daim to ask for a comment, but have not yet received a response.
