John Amaechi: ‘I looked over at my teammate and he was on fire’

John Amaechi describes the most unfriendly game he ever took part in.

When he played basketball for Panathinaikos against Olympiacos someone in the crowd threw a flare at a teammate, while they were warming up setting his clothes on fire. The teammate was unharmed, and the game went ahead - "but it didn't go well," says former NBA star Ameachi.
