Smart Motorways, MS & Equality in Sport
Martin Ballard sits in alongside Jo to start your day with the latest news and updates.
We've had smart phones and smart TV's. But now we're getting smart motorways. We have them to the south of us in Northamptonshire and in neighbouring Derbyshire too. But now, the whole stretch of the M1 in Leicestershire is becoming 'smarter'. 成人快手 Radio Leicester's Helen McCarthy is out and about and can tell us more.
Also, it's thought Multiple Sclerosis, or MS, now affects one in every 600 people in Britain. A neurological condition affecting the central nervous system, MS is nearly three times more common in women than in men with a wide range of symptoms which vary from one person to another, and from day to day. Here in Leicestershire, patients are supported by a team of specialist nurses and medics who work hard to understand and each patient's individual needs. So our reporter Jo Hollis went to meet members of this highly specialist team and some of the people they care for.
And, world tennis number one Novak Djokovic has landed himself at the centre of a controversy, after he suggested male tennis players should earn more money, in cash prizes, than their female counterparts. It all started at the Indian Wells tournament, when its organiser, Raymond Moore, said women's tennis rides on the coat-tails of the men's game and they should get down on their knees in thanks. The leading players in the women's game are less than impressed. World number one Serena Williams says MMoore's comments are offensive - and just plain wrong. But what do you think? We ask for your thoughts on gender equality in sport.
Also in the show, we hear about the coming of age drama performed by a brand new theatre group in Loughborough, and we're on a mission to finally answer the question, did Shakespeare come to Leicester?
