Duck saved by quack app
A duck-call ringtone has helped a US firefighter rescue six ducklings from a storm drain.
Even with the realistic, reassuring quacking sounds coming from his mobile phone, it took Cody Knecht about 90 minutes to catch the first four baby mallards in the south-east Louisiana community of Slidell.
He told Rhod Sharp: "I got in the hole and at the bottom of it I couldn't really get him close enough to us: threw some crackers, threw some bread."
"I guess over time we were kindof running out of options," he said, "and I remembered I had a duck app with quacking on the phone, so we tried that just to see if it worked and they actually kindof responded to it."
