Christopher Eccleston on his dad's dementia

Actor Christopher Eccleston says his father would "flicker with recognition" when the Busby Babes were mentioned - despite suffering from dementia.

Eccleston said towards the end of his dad's life he would take him to watch Manchester United matches.

"My dad towards the end was very vacant and very, very anxious" said Eccleston, "but if I mentioned Duncan Edwards, if I mentioned the Busby Babes there would be a flicker...a flicker of recognition."

"He'd lost a lot of his speech but he would try and say to me 'Good. Duncan Edwards: what a player鈥,鈥 he added.
