Gibson: Gayle's 215 was 'at times like a long, leisurely net'
The former West Indies coach Ottis Gibson says Chris Gayle鈥檚 knock of 215 against Zimbabwe at the cricket World Cup was 'at times like a long, leisurely net.'
Gayle's innings, the first double century in the tournament's history, eclipsed the unbeaten 188 by South Africa's Gary Kirsten against the United Arab Emirates in 1996.
He hit a total of 16 sixes in 147 balls before he was out for 215 off the last delivery of his side's innings.
'It was absolutely unbelievable,' said Gibson.
'He started slowly and could have been out in the first over! After all that drama there was some unbelievable hitting from Chris which we all know he's capable of.
'Apart from the opening spell the Zimbabwean bowling attack had hardly any sort of threat, it played into his hands and at times it looked like he was having a long leisurely net.'
