Modelling agent: 'A girl who鈥檚 too thin doesn鈥檛 work'
Premier Model Management founder Carole White says models who are 'too thin' won't work.
Carole White, co-founder of modelling agency Premier Model Management, says models who are too thin will not get work.
White said during her career she had sent girls home if they were ill, adding that some had displayed signs of an eating disorder, such as pale skin and blue hands.
She said: 鈥淲e would talk to her and say 鈥榶ou either put on weight or you鈥檙e going鈥, because contrary to popular belief, a girl who鈥檚 too thin doesn鈥檛 work."
White said model agencies 鈥渨oke up and realised we had a responsibility鈥 once the issues such as weight disorders in models had been raised by the press.
When asked if she pushed models to be thinner White said, 鈥減ossibly yes: if a model had a 37 or 38-inch hip I would ask them to get it to a 36-inch hip鈥.
The agency founder said times have now changed, and models are expected to be fit like athletes: 鈥淭hey are no longer asked to diet but asked to eat sensibly鈥 want them to be thoroughly healthy inside and out鈥
