Which? exec director: Energy price report 'damning'

Report on energy prices is a "damning indictment" of the industry says Which? executive director, Richard Lloyd.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published a report which shows long-term customers of the big energy companies are paying just over 10% more for their power compared to customers who switch.

It says that from 2012 to 2014, more than 95% of dual-fuel customers of the big firms would have saved money by switching tariffs or suppliers.

Mr Lloyd said "the onus is being put on consumers to sort out the problems in this market".

He said more needs to be done by the CMA to protect "vulnerable consumers" by doing much more to intervene.
