One of the last things you would expect to happen to the four time Olympic sailing champion Ben Ainslie is to get into trouble at sea and have to be rescued by Richard Branson.

But that's exactly what happened to him and his new bride, 5 live's very own Georgie Thompson.

The newlyweds had been sailing close to Branson's Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands, when their boat developed a mechanical problem and they messaged for help.

Members of the island's watersports team helped rescue the couple, and Branson afterwards invited them to stay on the island for a few days.

"You could not make it up," Georgie said.
