Contemporary and classic tracks from around the world. Playlist at bbcworldservice.com

Four new albums and two classics are in Charlie's CD player this week: Touareg band Tinariwen's latest creation is called Imidiwan which, according to their producer, "is one of those big Tamashek [one of the languages that Tinariwen use] words, to which no single English word can ever do justice. ‘Imidiwan’ means friends, companions, soul-brothers, fellow travellers."

Rishte is a new collabotation between US guitarist Gary Lucas and Indian vocalist from the UK, Najma Akhtar. Experimental Czech duo Dva taps into a venerable Central European tradition of inventing new languages which sound very much like existing ones but hint at very different meanings.

Calle 13 is a Puerto Rican duo consisting of half-brothers Residente and Visitante who have invited some illustrious guests to work with them on their latest album. Plus classic tracks from former Yugoslavia and Jamaica.
