We begin our journey with a unique take on Spain through one of Hugo Wolf鈥檚 Spanish art songs from Spanisches Liederbuch, performed by Niamh O鈥橲ullivan. O鈥橲ullivan then transports us to the heart of flamenco in her rendition of Bizet鈥檚 Habanera from Carmen, a piece she performed as an encore from her concert at the Elgar Hall in Birmingham exactly a year to this day. Santiago Canon-Valencia evokes the haunting and vibrant rhythms of de Falla鈥檚 Ritual Fire Dance. To finish, Ryan Corbett offers a strikingly beautiful twist on tradition, with Piazzolla鈥檚 Ave Maria.
