Vernon Kay welcomes the award-winning and critically acclaimed radio DJ and presenter Trevor Nelson. He鈥檒l be taking us on his 10-song musical journey throughout this week鈥檚 omnibus edition of Tracks of My Years. And that鈥檚 shortly before he鈥檒l be launching his new afternoon show on Radio 2 on Monday 27th January. He'll share with us his life story alongside his picks.
Born in Hackney to a family of St Lucian heritage, Trevor attended Central Foundation Boys' Grammar School in Islington. His first job was in a shoe shop, but his love of music meant he was bound to become a part-time DJ.
He tells us of his role as a record importer in 1985 and how he widened his experience by becoming Cooltempo/EMI Records Head of A&R and was instrumental in the careers of artists such as D'Angelo, Mica Paris and Lynden David Hall. Trevor will chat about his broadcasting career through London鈥檚 Kiss FM, Radio 1, 1Xtra and of course his 16 years here on Radio 2. It really is a fascinating story and he begins it with his first ever record, The Jackson Five's Greatest Hits. He鈥檚 chosen 鈥淚鈥檒l Be There鈥.
