James Joyce was himself a singer, and throughout his life was interested in the Irish song tradition, to the extent of borrowing the title of a song for his masterpiece Finnegans Wake.
Traditional singer Ted Hickey examines the significance of song in James Joyce鈥檚 work, drawing from Ulysses, Finnegans Wake, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Dubliners.
The programme features performances of Turpin Hero, Johnny I Hardly Knew You, The Croppy Boy, Little Harry Hughes, and The Lass of Aughrim. There are also readings of some of Joyce鈥檚 work and letters.
