Close Encounters of the Bonnybridge Kind

To mark the 30th anniversary of Bonnybridge's first UFO sighting local boys Kris Cummins & David O. Gray look back at the town's UFO legacy and talk to the key players in the story

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Bonnybridge鈥檚 first ever UFO sighting, local boys Kris Cummins & David O. Gray set out on a fascinating journey to look at the phenomenon and to try and understand how a small, working-class community dealt with becoming one of the world鈥檚 most famous UFO hotspots.

In October 1992 Bonnybridge鈥檚 first UFO sighting occurred after a local businessman spotted a star-shaped object hovering above a road and reported it to his local councillor, Billy Buchanan. Since then The Scottish Government have received hundreds of UFO sightings from Bonnybridge and the surrounding areas. To mark 30 years of this truly unique infamy for the town local boys Kris & Dave take a quirky and informative look at one of Scotland鈥檚 most famous unexplained phenomenon.

With this documentary Kris & Dave aren't interested in debating whether or not UFOs are real. Their aim is to investigate the story and talk to the main players in the story to try and understand how a small, working class village in Scotland reacted to sudden fame and notoriety. They grew up in Bonnybridge and saw how it affected their community and want to get to the heart of how the story and the town's UFO narrative unfolded.

With thanks from our contributors, Billy Buchanan, Malcolm Robinson, Craig Malcolm, Bill Whiteford, The Greenhill (Bonnybridge) Historical Society, Malcolm Cowie, Michelle Gray, Jack Rolland and Roswell resident Jack Batson.
