Child Poverty Action Group

Nine children in a classroom of 30 are growing up in poverty in the UK. Child Poverty Action Group, CPAG for short, works for a society free of child poverty, where all children can enjoy a childhood free of financial hardship and have an equal chance in life to reach their full potential. A national charity, we have made a positive difference to hundreds of thousands of children and families in poverty, since CPAG was set up in 1965.

Cost of the school day

Cost of the school day

If your family doesn’t have enough money, school life can be filled with worry. When children can’t take part because of cost, they miss out and they don’t have the same opportunities to learn.

Daniel’s story

Daniel’s story

Daniel won’t tell his parents there’s a school trip because he knows they can’t afford it. He’s embarrassed about his shoes because they have holes. He says he feels like a ‘spare person’.

We want every child to have a good start in life. With your help, CPAG can make the school day fairer and happier for families with children in poverty, like Daniel.
