More revelations on Nolan election investigation as Electoral Office issues unreserved apology. Ulster Unionist leader calls for an Audit Office probe.

The Electoral Office is today issuing an unreserved public apology for how it treated some voters in the 2019 General Election.

This story follows a two month long Nolan investigation into how false deadline dates were sent to citizens trying to register to vote.

They were entitled to be given until the 4th Dec – but we can reveal this morning some citizens were given cut off dates as early as 26th November

Also today the Nolan Show reveals a briefing note sent behind the scenes by the Electoral Office to political parties – stating that many of the public complaints broadcast on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ were 'incorrect allegations'.

In further revelations this morning - we show how the watchdog to the Electoral Office - The Electoral Commission - supported that briefing note which undermined public concerns which aired on the Nolan Show - without ever having investigated them, or having reached any conclusions.

In other words, the Electoral Commission seemed to side against public concerns and with the Electoral Office, despite the fact that the Commission had no investigatory powers, had taken part in no investigation , had never even spoken to the whistleblower at the centre of the allegations – and had reached no final conclusions.

Now, Ulster Unionist leader has called for an Audit Office probe.
