Annie Oakley

This documentary chronicles the life of Annie Oakley, a living symbol of the Wild West. Tha am prògram seo a’ leantainn beatha Annie Oakley, ìomhaigh an Wild West.

This documentary chronicles Annie Oakley’s life, from her childhood in Ohio to her world tours with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show. Phoebe Anne Moses first picked up a gun in 1875 at age 15. She taught herself to shoot and hunted quail, which she sold to support her struggling family. Frank Butler, who was making a name for himself on the variety stage, soon noticed the shooting prodigy. They married and went on tour as Butler and Oakley, the stage name that Annie would adopt. In 1885, Oakley entertained crowds in 40 cities across America. By 1895, that number grew to more than 130 cities around the world. The girl from Ohio had become a living symbol of the Wild West, a place that was fast disappearing.

Tha am prògram seo a’ leantainn beatha Annie Oakley bho amannan a h-òige ann an Ohio gu na cuairtean aice timcheall an t-saoghail, leis an taisbeanadh Wild West aig Buffalo Bill. B’ ann ann an 1875 aig aois còig bliadhna deug a thòisich Phoebe Anne Moses a’ losgadh le gunna. Dh’ ionnsaich i fhèin mar a chleachdadh i gunna gus gart-eòin a shealg airson an reic gus taic a thoirt dhan teaghlach aice. Ghlachd i aire Frank Butler, a bha dèanamh ainm dha fhèin air an àrd-ùrlar. Ann an ùine gun bhith fada, phòs iad agus chaidh iad air chuairt fo na h-ainmean Butler agus Oakley, ainm a chleachdadh Annie air an àrd-ùrlar a’ dol air adhart. Ann an 1885 nochd Annie air an àrd-ùrlar ann an dà fhichead baile timcheall Ameireagaidh. Bha an nighean à Ohio air a h-aithneachadh mar ìomhaigh an Wild West, àite a bha dol à bith gu h-aithghearr.
