Secretary of state announces more talks to restore Stormont

Secretary of state announces more talks to restore Stormont - but unionists say she's grasping at straws.

Here we go again. The Secretary of State is due to meet the local political parties today in yet another bid to get Stormont up and running. Karen Bradley will hold separate discussions with five party delegations at Stormont House, starting later this morning. She told MPs yesterday that she's "actively considering" how and when an external mediator could play a "constructive" role. But with no sign of movement from the DUP and Sinn Fein on key issues like Irish language, and Brexit dominating the political agenda, is there real hope of progress? Stephen spoke to Alliance Party leader Naomi Long, SDLP MLA Daniel McCrossan and the unionist commentator Nelson McCausland.

Also on the programme, pressure on some of our most vital services - health and education. A local principal has told of having to beg parents to provide reading books, glue, tissues, soap and toilet roll. This in order to meet the basic needs of the childrens' education and wellbeing at school. Graham Gault principal of Maghaberry Primary School was one of four school principals speaking at NI Affairs Committee into education funding and he accused our politicians of "playing pathetic games". Is our school network on its knees? Graham Gault joined Stephen in the studio this morning.

All that and more on the biggest show in the country.
