DUP says its MLAs will not sponsor future LGBT Stormont events
DUP says its MLAs will not sponsor future LGBT Stormont events after video emerges of drag queen using offensive language in Parliament Buildings speech.
No-one in the DUP will sponsor a queer event at Stormont again, according to a story in today's Belfast Telegraph. A video on social media has caused controversy after a drag queen used offensive language in a speech at Parliament Buildings. The event was organised by Queer Greens and sponsored by DUP, Sinn Fein and Green MLAs. Vinny spoke to the Green Party's Malach谩i O'Hara, commentator Malachi O'Doherty and DUP MLA Jim Wells.
Also on the programme, a wheelchair user was unable to board a flight at the weekend because he was told his wheelchair repair kit was a security risk. Steve Smithers had been going to visit his sick father when he said staff at Belfast International Airport told him the spanners could be used to "dismantle the plane". Vinny spoke to Steve and his partner Lisa.
And, a new survey says nearly half of parents dream of taking a holiday without their children. In a poll by Families Online 47 per cent of parents surveyed with children under 12 said they would be happy to leave their children with family or a trusted child minder. But would you do it? Would you love a break from your parenting responsibilities or would you miss your little darlings too much? With me now are commentators Tina Calder and Paul Martin.
