The Don's selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from the Avalanches.
Each week, as well as blending key new releases with classics from the UK, USA, Jamaica, Africa and beyond, Don highlights a piece of Crucial Vinyl - a cherished album from his own collection. He explains why it means so much to him and features three key tracks. This week he picks Since I Left You, released in 2000 by the Avalanches.
Don says, "This stunning debut album by Australian electronic outfit the Avalanches took sampling to another level. It's said to contain over 3,500 samples, which sounds like a musical nightmare, but they made it sound seamless. Funnily enough, they didn't even bother to clear or even take note of where the samples were from, because they thought no one was ever going to hear it - boy did they get that wrong!".
