Billie Holiday at 100

Claire Martin and Liane Carroll celebrate Billie Holiday's centenary by telling her story through recordings such as God Bless the Child, Fine and Mellow and Strange Fruit.

Vocalists Claire Martin and Liane Carroll celebrate diva Billie Holiday's 100th birthday by selecting music from their personal collections. Together they navigate us through story of Billie's life peppered with some of her classic recordings including 'God Bless The Child', 'Fine and Mellow' and the iconic 'Strange Fruit' described by the late jazz writer Leonard Feather as "the first significant protest in words and music, the first unmuted cry against racism".
