Christmas Morning with Cathy Macdonald and Ricky Ross
Festive music and conversation from Cathy, Ricky and guests - Aled Jones, The Reverend Philip Blackledge, Jude Armani, Canon Mike Parker and Edinburgh Makar Christine de Luca.
Cathy Macdonald and Ricky Ross are joined by the perfect Christmas guest…because if there’s one song you associate with this time of year, it’s quite probably his! Singer, TV and radio presenter Aled Jones shares his thoughts on the festive season, and that magical song ‘Walking in the Air’.
Jude Armani found success early in music management, but the rock and roll lifestyle wasn’t quite enough for him. Feeling compelled to walk away from the world of
music he moved in to the third sector, becoming Director of ‘Restart’, a charity which helps marginalised young men in London and Edinburgh turn their lives around.
He reflects on the challenges of changing your life and building hope.
Canon Mike Parker spent 4 years at the All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral in Cairo, and was living and working there during the 2011 uprising in Egypt. He tells Cathy and Ricky about Christmas in the city; and as International Director of Middle East Christian Outreach, he discusses the challenges faced by Christians in the region, and why holding on to hope is so important.
Edinburgh Makar Christine de Luca talks about growing up in Shetland, what Christmas means to her, and sparkles us with a special festive poem.
Reverend Philip Blackledge from Holy Trinity Melrose visits Cathy and Ricky in the studio, armed with mince pies, some friends and a keyboard for a sing-along carol session.
And Josh Littlejohn, Alice Thompson and Sonny Murray explain why Social Bite is a sandwich shop with a difference.
There’ll be plenty of festive stories and reflections on hope, plus some great seasonal tunes…perfect for Christmas morning.
