Pixie Lott and singer-songwriter Anna Calvi perform live, plus Booker-shortlisted author Adam Foulds talks about his new novel.

We've a wonderful double bill in terms of live music on Wednesday's show - both pop starlet Pixie Lott and singer/songwriter Anna Calvi will be giving live performances!

Booker Shortlisted author Adam Foulds will be talking about his new novel set in North Africa and Sicily at the end of the last war. 'In the Wolf's Mouth' follows the Allies' botched 'liberation' attempts as they chase the Germans north towards the Italian mainland.

Here on the Culture Studio we're used to being able to talk to our pick of famous authors - but how would you feel about one attending your own private book group?! Would you be able to be honest about what you thought of their work? Author appearance book groups are all the rage in New York, and journalist Anna Burnside has set up her own version in her house in Glasgow. Two of her guest authors, Helen Fitzgerald and Jean Rafferty will also be on hand to give an author's point of view.

Leading storytelling Bea Campbell will be telling us about her 'Starting With Stories' event this weekend. We'll be looking at the enduring appeal of storytelling, and asking whether it's very nature, and transience, is what makes it special.
