Is George Galloway's religion an issue?

Is it rude to ask someone what religion they are? Plus Mahtab Hussain talks about being a British Muslim and Nihal finds out about a British Pakistani conference.

At 1, Nihal kicks off the debate of the day. Here's a question for you - Is it rude to ask someone what religion they are?

Respect MP for Bradford West George Galloway is quite upset over an interview in the New Statesman which suggests he converted to Islam ten years ago. Although Mr Galloway grew up a Roman Catholic he's always said his religion was a "personal matter". He regards his religion as a very private affair and its no-one's business but his whether he's Muslim or not.

How do you react when someone asks "what religion you are?" How do you react? With suspicion, or are you proud to tell people about your faith? As Asians, is religion so defining that you need to know before you interact with the person even on a professional level.

After 2, artist Mahtab Hussain will be discussing his new project Building Desires, which explores his identity as a British Muslim. And later in the hour, do British Muslims need to do more to confront the taboos which exist within their community? A conference being held in Oxford over the weekend aims to do just that, and we'll be speaking to Suriyah Bi who is the Chairperson of The National British Pakistani Conference.
