Biafra Revisited

Author Wole Soyinka makes a poignant return to Biafra, the eastern region of Nigeria that erupted into civil war 40 years ago - a conflict in which he was caught up.

Forty years ago, the eastern region of Nigeria erupted into civil war as the people of Biafra fought for an independent state.

As the fighting began, Nobel Prize-winning author Wole Soyinka made a dangerous journey into the heart of the conflict, a mission which was to end with imprisonment by the Nigerian authorities. He returns to Biafra to confront the ghosts of the past.
