Rav Wilding hosts Missing Live with Louise Minchin and is also the regular co-host of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One's Crimewatch. He can also be seen presenting his own series, Helicopter Heroes, for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One.
Later this year, Rav will be hosting a new daily live Crimewatch spin-off series for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Daytime. Rav is also a regular strand presenter and frequent studio guest for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One's The One Show.
Rav says: "During my eight years with the police I have had experience of missing people on a day-to-day basis in one form or another. People are often surprised at the varied backgrounds of the people who go missing. What surprised me, however, was how many we managed to find, as a result of the programme, in such a short space of time."
And Rav's experience in the police force gives him special insight into the issues involved.
"I understand the gruelling nature of the work that the police and the other agencies do, but I am also mindful of the pain that families and friends are going through in these cases. I understand the sensitivity that needs to be shown.
"I think the series was so popular because it involved the viewers. The programme is nothing without the viewers. People feel involved and it keeps them wanting to watch."
Rav was a Detective Constable in South London when his television work started and eventually took the decision to step down from policing and concentrate on his new career.
"Policing requires a 100% commitment – and you can't do it half-heartedly. My media commitments were interfering with my work – and policing is too serious for that."
