Christine signs up to go the extra mile

Join a host of stars from the worlds of sport and showbiz and take part in this year's Sport Relief Mile at Custom House Square in Belfast on Sunday 16 March.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Northern Ireland's own Christine Bleakley has just signed up and will be taking time out of her busy schedule presenting The One Show.

Christine will be joining local sports stars including boxer Brian Magee, the Northern Ireland Ladies Netball Team and World Masters Heptathlon Champion Geraldine Finnegan. Players from local soccer, GAA and rugby teams will also be lending their support.

Current Miss GB, Gemma Garrett from Belfast, will also be taking the Sport Relief challenge along with familiar faces from local TV screens including Denise Watson and Jackie Fullerton from Sport, and Rigsy from ATL TV.

Christine said: "I'm really looking forward to getting back to Belfast and taking part in the Sport Relief Mile. There has been a fantastic turn out in previous years so I expect to be joining hundreds of people starting from Custom House Square on 16 March. The great thing about the mile is that you don't have to be super-fit – anyone can do it. It's going to be great fun so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there."

Belfast is one of 23 flagship Sport Relief Miles taking place across the UK on Sunday 16 March. Live coverage from the Mile events will be shown during The Sport Relief Mile Show on Sunday 16 March on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One.

Denise Watson, local Sport Relief coordinator, said: "The Sport Relief Mile is a great chance for people to get involved in a really worthwhile event, raise some cash and see how they fare against some of our top local sports stars and celebs.
