They made their Edinburgh Festival debut in 1998 in The Mighty Boosh, winning the coveted Perrier Award for Best Newcomer.

Series two of The Mighty Boosh, which aired on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Three in July 2005, was repeated on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two in January 2006 to coincide with the duo's first nationwide live tour of the UK. Due to overwhelming public demand, the tour doubled in size, with the boys performing to some 100,000 punters.

The Sunday Telegraph's Paul Morley described the show as "the funniest thing you will see this year on stage, television or film " and The Observer's Stephanie Merritt called it "a triumphant spectacle ... one of the most joyful shows around".

The tour culminated in a sell-out four-night run at London's premiere rock venue, Brixton Academy, where the live show was recorded for the first Mighty Boosh Live DVD, released in November 2006.
