³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Three announces new series of Kill It, Cook It, Eat It
|
Kill It, Cook It, Eat It returns for a second series, this time following the meat production process of younger animals, in a new series for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Three.
Ìý
The slaughter of young animals – veal, milk-fed lambs, kid goats and suckling pigs – happens regularly in abattoirs around the country throughout the year.
Ìý
As a nation of animal lovers, we may not want to acknowledge consciously that animals are taken from their mothers shortly after birth and put to the slaughterman's knife. But it does happen.
Ìý
Presented by Julia Bradbury (Watchdog, Wainright's Walks, Outdoor Britain), the series will discuss the extreme emotions evoked by the slaughter of baby animals and will offer detailed explanations from all sides of the industry.
Ìý
Each programme will examine the reactions of an invited group of guests who will watch the slaughter procedure from a specially-constructed studio built around a working abattoir ... and then eat some of the animals they have seen killed.
Ìý
The series will raise important questions including: How are these animals raised? Where do they come from? Should we eat them? How are they killed and gutted? What checks are made to ensure their welfare? Who kills them and who eats them?
Ìý
Martin Davidson, acting Genre Commissioner, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Specialist Factual, said: "Kill It, Cook It, Eat It is already established as innovative television and the new series will be as edgy and well-handled as the first.
Ìý
"This is not an easy subject to face up to and this series aims to reconnect the British public with how the animals they eat reach their plate. It will show, straightforwardly and in detail, the entire process from farm to fork."
Ìý
The second series of Kill It, Cook It, Eat It has been produced by Firefly for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and commissioned by Danny Cohen, Controller, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Three.
Ìý
The four-part series is due to be broadcast on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Three in Winter 2007.
