³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Children in Need Appeal 2006

Celebrity Scissorhands - starts 8.00pm on Sunday 5 November, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Three

It's the battle of the blow-dry as nine celebrities cross brushes and go head-to-head to see who can crimp their way to the top.

Ìý

This year, for the first time ever - amid the backstage excitement of this year's ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Children in Need night - the hair, make-up and wardrobe department will be in the hands of a group of trainee celebs.

Ìý

Alex Zane will present the show from the exclusive Celebrity Scissorhands Academy, where he'll be on hand to report any harrowing hair experiences or beautiful barnets at the beauty boot camp.

Ìý

The celebrity trainees are: Eighties pop icon Steve Strange; winner of The Apprentice, Michelle Dewberry; Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills; actress and Dynasty star Emma Samms; Right Said Fred frontman Richard Fairbrass; TV presenter Sarah Cawood; singer Rowetta (Happy Mondays, X Factor); actor and TV presenter Ortis Deeley (Kidulthood, Live & Kicking); and TV personality Darren Day.

Ìý

Lee Stafford, Britain's most creative celebrity hairdresser, is set to manage the Celebrity Scissorhands Academy – located at the heart of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Television Centre – as well as train the famous novices in all elements of hair, beauty and make-up.

Ìý

Tough talking Lee is facing one of his biggest challenges yet - he has just two weeks to turn his celebrity trainees into a squad of professionals.

Ìý

Lee says: "The celebrities will have to walk the extra mile for this task - 110 per cent of blood, sweat and tears will be required at all times!"

Ìý

Helping Lee train the celebrities will be a top team of experts. The Celebrity Scissorhands training team will include Ben Cooke, the preferred hairdresser of David and Victoria Beckham and creator of the 'Pob'; Stephen Glendinning, whose celebrity clients include Frank Lampard and Lisa Snowden; and Elaine Sullivan Child, who specialises in hair extensions and Afro Caribbean hair.

Ìý

Lee's also signed up beauty guru Janet Ginnings, who owns an exclusive salon in Mayfair. To ensure the smooth running of the academy is receptionist Leah Chant.

Ìý

Viewers can keep up to date with all Celebrity Scissorhands action with hour-long primetime shows and streaming on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Three and catch up programmes on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One - as well as Keep Your Hair On, a brand new children's quiz series for C³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One and the C³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Channel.

Ìý

The Celebrity Scissorhands website will not only provide video clips from the academy, but also the newsroom will be working around the clock to keep fans informed of the latest hair do's and don'ts!

Ìý

Red button streaming will provide unprecedented access to the Celebrity Scissorhands Academy, and a window into the world of the celebrities and TV.
