Paul McBride
Originally from Newtownards, I currently live in Belfast but I began trying to write creatively when I was travelling around Asia and Australia in 2005. I found the scenery and people hugely inspiring.
I would like to get some feedback on my work and hope one day to have the discipline to write a travel book.

Dreaming of Saigon, Dreaming of You by Paul McBride
|
A soldier of My Lai who didn't fire a round
Hung himself in the basement because he felt down
And justice was found in the passing of time
Retrospect leaves us nowhere to hide.
In the dusty streets of central Saigon
I contemplate the days that have gone
And I know you'll be waiting for a year or two
I'm dreaming of Saigon, dreaming of you.
An old man in the gutter begs for a note
River vendors trade in vermin just to keep afloat
I wonder will they be here in a year or two
I'm dreaming of Saigon, dreaming of you.
I'm on my way to see you - it won't be long now
I wonder has your face changed and I wonder how
We will spend our time together - a lifetime or two
I'm dreaming of Saigon, dreaming of you.
