The Ghosts of Presents Past by David Smylie

A garish silver bracelet
That
I deliberated over for three days
Not knowing what she liked
But wanting to be impressingly extravagant
I cringe now at its size
And
How much of my disposable income
I spent.
She never wore it
Well not that I saw.
We broke up in the New Year
During the January sales.
