Carolyn O'Connell
I live in Richmond, Surrey, having moved there from Central London two years ago and I have family connections and friends in all four provinces of Ireland. I am a member of the Richmond Writers circle. I have been writing for several years and my poems have appeared in magazines in England and on London's busses. 'Between Bamboo' was published in 2000 and I am working towards a collection.

Ripened by Carolyn O'Connell
|
You had left me, gone up to bed.
I went outside to see the changed pattern
of the moon. A cloud hung against the sky.
The stars had changed, their positions moved.
It was the time of the autumn equinox,
of movement, of ripeness, when emotions
are gathered with the fruit to savour
through the cold until
we like the trees are covered by frost.
