New HIV
advice website. |
A new website
has been launched offering information and support on HIV for
gay and bisexual men.
The
site is being run by Transformation East Norfolk (TEN) and funded
by Norfolk Health Authority.
Project
Officer for TEN, Neil Kittle, says they decided to launch the
online service because there was a proven need for it:

"Nowadays
a lot of the work we do is through e-mail and the Internet.
The web is an easy point of contact. We're hoping the service
will help us increase the numbers of people we can reach,"
he said.
Although
people of any sexuality can become infected with HIV, Neil Kittle
says that TEN have decided to focus on helping gay and bisexual
men because historically these groups need more support.
The
website will provide a variety of services and information,
including a request for condoms and counselling services via
e-mail. Direct links to other agencies offering further information
and support will be published, as will TEN's monthly newsletter.
Mr. Kittle
says often people are worried about speaking to someone in person
about the HIV virus and believes that e-mail will help those
in such a position.
It is hoped that the website will either provide users with
the information that they need or the reassurance to speak to
someone with the relevant information.
