Stand-up tall
 Owen O'Neill
Northern Ireland's own Owen O'Neill has established himself as a comedian, writer, actor and stand-up performer worldwide. He is a regular on the London comedy circuit and has performed on the David Letterman and Conan O'Brien shows.
Owen hosted a hands-on masterclass which included tips on preparing material, what makes a good joke, how to handle humiliation and disappointment and how to face down the dreaded heckler.
1. Dealing with hecklers
99% of heckles aren't very good, you aren't going to get a clever heckle. In the 22 years I have been doing stand-up comedy I think I've had maybe five occasions when I have had heckles that have just destroyed me completely.

2. Creating material for stand-up
I have never written down any material. Don't be scared to talk about relationships, death... there's nothing you can't make funny.

3. Making political jokes
It's a fine line, but go for it...

4. Use your head...
Once you've got the audience on your side, then at least they will listen to you.

5. To sum it all up
It's a learning curve and you'll probably never get off it. You're always learning...
