Plans to renovate a council-owned apartment building in Lewes have been approved by a planning committee.
At a meeting on 29 August, planners approved a Lewes District Council application to extend and renovate Saxonbury House in Juggs Road, creating six two-bedroom flats.
Currently the building, which lies within a scheduled ancient monument site, has space for six one-bedroom flats.
The committee was also told the construction work would not go into the scheduled ancient monument site - an Anglo-Saxon burial ground.

Medway Council's planning committee deferred making a decision on a reserved matters application on 29 August for land at Brickfields following the revelation from head of planning Dave Harris.
One of the conditions attached to the outline planning permission - granted in March 2018 - was for a new pathway to be provided on the western side of Capstone Road.
But Mr Harris said "land ownership issues" had made this impossible to secure.
Committee members unanimously supported the call for any decision to be deferred to allow further negotiation between applicant Abbey ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖs, Medway Council, and any other relevant parties.
