A 76-run partnership between Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell will have settled the Warwickshire dressing room.

Bell, who looks utterly determined to put his stamp on the game is 50 not out and Trott is unbeaten on 24.

The stand was needed after Sam Curran and Jade Dernbach reduced the visitors to 37-2. Remember that Warwickshire are following on after being dismissed for 91 yesterday.

Mark Footitt produced a devastating spell to put Surrey in complete control, taking three wickets without conceding a run.

The left-armer dismissed Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell in the space of three balls and then removed Sam Hain on the stroke of tea.

The sun continues to shine at The Oval, but the Warwickshire dressing room will be feeling a little chilly at tea.

  8. Chris Wright takes four after lunchpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 7-0

    Mark Church
    ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio London commentator

A clatter of wickets after lunch and Chris Wright finishes with 5-113.

Surrey lost six wickets for 49 after the break and now Warwickshire have the opportunity to bat in the sun, a little earlier than they probably expected.

William Porterfield and Alex Mellor are opening for the Bears.

  9. Good morning for Surreypublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Surrey 405-4 v Warwickshire - Lunch

    Mark Church
    ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio London commentator

A very good morning for Surrey as they continue to bat under the blue skies of London. Kumar Sangakkara and Dominic Sibley added 55 until Sangakkara fell to Oliver Hannon-Dalby for a graceful 71.

Sibley has looked rock solid and once again Surrey looked booked in to bat all afternoon.
