    A farm on a National Trust estate has hit out at fly-tippers after a mountain of waste was dumped in a field at the edge of a popular beauty spot.

    The rubbish, thought to be the remnants of a house makeover, was left at ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Farm in Atcham, near Shrewsbury on Monday, and then set alight.

    "It's a bit of all-sorts, pallets, toilet seats, hanging baskets, plug sockets. You name it, we've probably got it," farmer Ben Dickens said.

    "Someone's probably had a very nice refurb really, but unfortunately we've ended up with the rubbish."

    Attingham Park, outside Shrewsbury is one of the most-visited properties owned by the National Trust and a section of the wider estate is rented by ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Farm, which is a working farm and tourist attraction in its own right.

    Four golfers have set off on a marathon challenge to help celebrate a club's 125th anniversary.

    The four, including Nuneaton's Andy Sullivan, set out at daybreak to play 125 holes at Stratford-upon-Avon Golf Club before it gets dark.

    That works out as seven consecutive rounds without stopping.

    Sullivan said "it might not be the best preparation for an event I've got next week, but it's with good friends, and we'll try and have a bit of banter and raise as much money as we can."

    A senior police officer's been suspended for what his force has described as allegations "which amount to gross misconduct".

    Staffordshire Police has refused to reveal the nature of the allegations.

    The force said it had decided to take the action over Chief Insp John Owen, its police commander for Stoke-on-Trent North.

    It added that it had referred the allegations to its watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which assessed them and referred the issue back to the force for an internal investigation.
