The political parties are to resume some low-key local campaigning for the general election this afternoon. Tomorrow, national campaigns will resume after being suspended out of respect for those killed in the Manchester bomb attack.

UKIP was the exception and launched its election manifesto this morning, before the one minute silence for the victims of Manchester. Party leader Paul Nuttall said the decision to do so was a message to terrorists that they would not win.
