Wynne Evans auditioned for Dancing on Ice before ending up on Strictly

Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has revealed he once auditioned for rival show Dancing on Ice, but he didn鈥檛 get the job following a pretty sweary skate.

鈥淚 remember doing the interview, right, and you had to go on the ice,鈥 he said on his 成人快手 Radio Wales morning show.

鈥淚 just couldn鈥檛 stop saying naughty words. I was so out of my comfort zone. My feet were killing because I had my bunions in the ice boots, in the ice skates or whatever they鈥檙e called.鈥

Evans is currently one of 13 remaining Strictly contestants, after Toyah Wilcox was eliminated from the competition over the weekend.

Following a stint on MasterChef, and now Strictly, he鈥檚 becoming a bit of a reality TV star - despite not landing a spot on ITV's Dancing on Ice.

鈥淚 didn鈥檛 actually get it 鈥 thank the Lord,鈥 he said.

鈥淚 fell over I don鈥檛 know how many times. It was so hard. It was absolutely so, so difficult. At the time I was like 鈥極h, I wish I鈥檇 got that鈥, but I didn鈥檛 get it.鈥

The 52-year-old opera singer from Carmarthen is best known for his role as Gio Compario in the infamous Go Compare adverts.

Evans hosts his own show on 成人快手 Radio Wales, and is currently filming a new series with Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page about the Welsh coastline.

Aside from his TV career, Evans has also had two number one classical music albums and has performed over 200 times at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
