Overview: This qualitative research design comprised of 40 focus group discussions with Thai people in key transit and destination provinces which aimed to understand their attitudes towards migrants. In addition, 51 in-depth interviews with migrants vulnerable to trafficking, specifically from Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, sought to understand migrants鈥� experiences of life in Thailand, their key information needs and their understanding of their rights.
A further 13 in-depth interviews were conducted with media practitioners in Bangkok to explore their understanding of laws and regulations related to this issue, as well as their experience of reporting on migrant issues and trafficking.
Findings from this research highlighted the need for communication strategies which focus on shifting attitudes of Thai people towards migrants and tackling deep-rooted norms.
